Less than two weeks ago Hurricane Ida ravaged parts of Southeastern Louisiana. Power lines were torn down, water was left undrinkable, homes are damaged and destroyed and most unfortunately, lives have been lost. For many, the recovery process has only just started.

To expand the political influence currently supported by Local 571 and the Illinois Federation of Teachers, the COPE/PAC Chair serves as a liaison to politicians and allows us to make contributions to politicians who share our values and support WSTU. We use the following strategies to raise money for COPE: raffles, voluntary cash contributions, voluntary payroll deductions, and square reader deductions.

AFT-WV will be hosting our 5th annual Marshall University game and tailgate on Saturday, October 9th from 11:30 AM to 1:45 PM. 

The Thundering Herd plays host to Old Dominion University. Kickoff is at 2 PM, and it is also Marshall’s homecoming game.  For $12 a person AFT-WV members can purchase a ticket and a pass to our tailgate for free food, drinks, music and fellowship. 

The tailgate will be located in the back of the Wendy’s parking lot right beside Joan C Edwards Stadium (parking not included). 

Tickets will be great seats in Section 105.
