Furlough Days

Update 8/31/17:  A&R has filed a grievance relating to the State’s intention of charging 24hrs of furlough time to employees who leave State service prior to the designated furlough days.  A&R members who are retiring are routinely being told to take the furloughs now b/c the cost of the furloughs will be applied against their final payout regardless.

NAACP National Listening Tour in Detroit August 24

You are cordially invited to participate in the first stop for the NAACP's seven city National Listening Tour titled "NAACP Forward" featuring Interim President & CEO Derrick Johnson and Chairman of the National Board of Directors Leon Russell, among others on August 24  at 6 p.m. at Greater New Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.   

Rules on Teacher Evaluations and Appeals

The Office of Educator Talent in the Michigan Department of Education will hold a webinar in collaboration with the Office of Professional Preparation Services and the Center for Educational Performance Information designed to prepare educators for the upcoming Educator Effectiveness Label Data Appeals Window from September 1 to December 1, 2017.

Join us for Slow Roll Aug. 21 at Southeastern High School

Detroit Public Schools Community District will host a Slow Roll ride on Monday, August 21 at 5:30 p.m. at Southeastern High School to welcome, support, celebrate new DPSCD families.

Pathways to Potential success coaches will be on site to collect new or gently-used uniform donations for DPSCD students to ensure their attendance in class every day. In exchange for uniform donations, individuals will be entered to a win a new Schwinn Bikes bicycle. Riders may also donate through the DPS Foundation donation website to be entered to win. www.dpsfdn.org/donate

In addition to the Slow Roll line-up of food trucks and vendors, DPSCD will showcase various programs. The student-led farm stands will sell fresh, organic produce grown at Drew Farm and the DPSCD PD Safe Routes to School program will seek pledges to be the Eyes & Ears of our communities. Slow Roll riders and community members are also invited to discover the unique programs and offerings at DPSCD and pre-enroll their children.
