Balt. County African American Cultural Festival

The 2017 Baltimore County African American Cultural Festival is an annual event that brings citizens of all walks of life to the center of county politics to observe, engage, and enjoy African-American culture.

NTU Update - September 29, 2017

Colleagues,

1) Kudos – The new NTU website is regularly updated with a wide variety of important information, including a calendar of events, and how to’s for topics like FMLA’s.  If you have anything you’d like added to the website (kudos, pictures/videos from your school, etc), just send it to mmaillaro@newarkteachersunion.com.. There a lot of amazing things going on in the Newark Public Schools, and it’s important to highlight them!

Unions chastise US Supreme Court ruling

The Janus case is a blatantly political and well-funded plot to use the highest court in the land to further rig the economic rules against everyday working people. The billionaire CEOs and corporate interests behind this case, and the politicians who do their bidding, have teamed up to deliver yet another attack on working people by striking at the freedom to come together in strong unions. The forces behind this case know that by joining together in strong unions, working people are able to win the power and voice they need to level the economic and political playing field.

Supreme Court: Janus v. AFSCME 31

It is disappointing that the Supreme Court has granted certiorari in Janus v. AFSCME Council 31. Labor unions have been the engine that have driven the economic motor of the middle class in the United States during the majority of the 20th century. It is no coincidence that as labor union participation has decreased in the nation over the last few decades, the wages of workers have remained stagnant while the richest Americans continue to get richer...

CUB Retiree Anniversary

The City Union of Baltimore-Retiree chapter had their Second (2nd) Anniversary luncheon on Tuesday, September 19th at the CUB office. The event was well attended and beyond simply celebrating the retiree chapter, the union had information presented by a number of speakers to ensure that members are still living engaged and enriching lives, even into retirement.
