Kirsch calls PA Supreme Court ruling a win for students

AFT Pennsylvania President Ted Kirsch released the following statement about the Pennsylvania Supreme Court decision to hear the school funding equity case. In a news release, Kirsch called it a win for students, parents and the commonwealth. A Commonwealth Court had rejected the case by six school districts, parents and organizations. Arbitrator Decision regarding District Violations of 2012 contract

Dear Brothers & Sisters:

The Arbitrator's decision on our Grievances over the district's failure to implement certain provisions of the 2012 contract has finally arrived.   The 2012 contract was a controversial one, we know. Those who benefited loved it; those who didn’t hated it; some saw it as too progressive, others saw it as regressive. Ultimately, the membership voted for the contract, and it became our responsibility to monitor and enforce its implementation.  

MATC Local 212 Condemns Governor Walker's Veto Eliminating the Education Approval Board (EAB) as an Independent Agency.

According to Dr. Michael Rosen, a retired economics instructor and prominent critic of for-profit colleges, “Thousands of economically disadvantaged students will be hurt by this veto. Wisconsin is now open for business for these predatory enterprises that are educational institutions in name only.”
 
As Wisconsin’s postsecondary education regulatory agency, the EAB’s mission was “To protect Wisconsin's consumers and support quality educational options.”

NTU Update - September 22, 2017

Colleagues,

1) NTU Calendar Books – This is the question we get most at the NTU this time of year “Where is my Calendar book?” The 2017-2018 calendar book is currently at the printer and we hope to have it out to the membership in the next week or so.

2) NTU Contract Books – We are working with NPS on finalizing the new Contract Books. We hope to have a digital version on the website next week and the print copy available soon after.
