2016 NYSUT Retiree Council 43's 2016 Annual Conference will be on September 27, 2016 at the SpringHill Suites Orlando Airport, 5828 Hazeltine National Drive, Orlando, FL 32822. This year’s conference is open to all NYSUT Members & Retirees; NYSUT TRIF Unit Officers, Delegates and Members; Guests; Union Affiliates including AFT; NEA; FEA; AFL-CIO; FLARA and invited Presenters.

A statement from Detroit Federation of Teachers Interim President Ivy Bailey on the report that a $12 million, never-before-publicized bailout of the Education Achievement Authority of Michigan was slipped into the $617 million Detroit Public Schools bills package.
The CHUH district will have a 5.5 mil levy on the ballot for November 2016. It is the first operating levy in 5 years - 2 years longer than the normal life expectancy of a school levy. This means that the district has not had any increase in operating costs for 5 years even though everything costs more today than it did 5 years ago.

BCFPE will hold its next GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. at the BCFPE Office.
The 2016 AFT National Convention in Minneapolis, MN was one for the ages. Not only was it the 100th anniversary of the union, but there were a number of high profile elected officials and social justice activists that addressed the convention. The members even took to the streets themselves to put the rhetoric into action.
