Workplace violence is not “part of the job”

Nurses and hospital staff were pleased to learn that the U.S Government Accountability Office (GAO) has studied the impact of workplace violence on healthcare workers. The preponderance of data is substantiated; and while workplace violence in healthcare settings is recognized, it is still not regulated.

NTU Update - May 13, 2016

Colleagues,

1)    Layoffs -  The NTU met with the district this week to discuss layoffs.  In the district’s initial plan (which has not yet been approved by Civil Service), they will be looking to layoff 23 NTU members in the following positions: 

·       Keyboarding Clerk 1 – 10

·       Keyboarding Clerk 2 – 7

·       Keyboarding Clerk 2 Bilingual - 2

·       Keyboarding Clerk 3 – 4

Union Day in Baltimore County

Baltimore County Public Employees had an opportunity to meet and greet the leadership of the two local unions affiliated with AFT-Maryland, which represent them. MCEA meets with Lt. Gov. Rutherford

On May 9, 2016 MCEA President, Linda Day, Michael Brown, Legislative Chair, and Labor Relations Specialist, Michael Keeney met with Lt. Governor, Boyd K. Rutherford. Ms. Day expressed her concerns of bullying in the workplace which has become incredibly prevalent throughout State Agencies.
