Over the upcoming weeks, there are quite a few events taking place across Long Island to encourage and show solidarity for public education. I have included information below that highlights these educational events and forums. The flyer lists a schedule of various Community Forums. Please feel free to share this information with friends and family or post it on social media such as twitter, Facebook, etc.
Dear Colleagues,
1) Rx UPDATE – Just this week, a judge ordered NTU members prescription medications "for attorneys’ eyes only." That means that Superintendent Cerf and his staff can't see what meds you're on.
ATTENTION NTU MEMBER:
We would like to encourage you to take advantage of an incredible opportunity to join Seton Hall University’s Nationally Acclaimed MA and Ed.S degree and certification program in Educational Leadership.
There are two courses offered each semester. One is online and one is in-seat. The in-seat classes are offered twice during the semester on weekends only, and will be held at the Newark Teachers Union (1019 Broad Street, Newark, NJ - parking is available behind the building on Beecher Street).
Executive Board Nominations
Congratulations to STA member and Sayville resident, Dan Cameron, and his wife Shannon who have been named "The Suffolk County News' 2015 Inspiration" winners. The Camerons are founders of Matthew's Giving Tree Foundation, an organization named in memory of their son, that raises money for medical equipment to help the handicapped enjoy a more fulfilling life.
We at the City Union of Baltimore are deeply saddened to hear of the violent death of a city employee. Our heart & prayers go out to the victim's family and all members of AFSCME Local 44. We in labor are all brothers and sisters and when tragedy strikes one of us, it strikes all of us.

Baltimore Teachers Union members Sarah Martin and Caroline Schmidt testified in Annapolis before the Education, Health & Environmental Affairs Committee about the proliferation of standardized testing. They were there in support of Senate Bill 407
