LFT President Steve Monaghan has chided the editors of The Advocate for an editorial challenging the widespread belief that Common Core standards were implemented poorly and with inadequate resources, by the State Department of Education.

The Texas Teacher Retirement System Board of Trustees is holding a Town Hall meeting today to gather input and answer questions on TRS health-care plans, and Texas AFT plans to address the board with testimony about the need for the state to step up and adequately fund health care for public school employees.

The following is a primer on the AFT-Maryland and the endorsement process for the federal races.

The AFT-Maryland is a federation of local unions of the AFT within the state, including the Baltimore Teachers Union, the City Union of Baltimore, the Maryland Public Employee Council (for state employees), the AFT-Healthcare Maryland (for state healthcare workers), the Baltimore County Federation of Public Employees, the Maryland Classified Employee Association, to name just a few.
