Why Should We Care About Tenure?

Education is under attack. Colleen Sheehan presented an information session to 45 C-RTA members about the politically motivated attack on the due process rights of educators. She reminded us that:

  • NYS has some of the most rigorous teaching standards

  • NYS has the most credentialed, most effective teachers in the nation

  • due process protects good teachers from attack

Dr. Lorretta Johnson, AFT Secretary-Treasurer and past president of AFT-Maryland, hit the polls in Baltimore on Election Day to help AFT-MD members and staff get out the vote in Maryland.

(Baton Rouge – November 3, 2014) A Louisiana Department of Education report boasting success for Louisiana’s controversial school voucher scheme amounts to little more than political propaganda on the eve of an election, Louisiana Federation of Teachers President Steve Monaghan said today.
