Rising Above the Water: Grants Help NDPEA Members Affected by Minot Floods

The floodwaters rose quickly in Minot; for some, it came too fast for them to move their belongings to safety. And while the water would eventually recede, the full healing and recovery for this community will take more time to rise up than it did for the water to hit its crest.

Our brothers and sisters in Minot are still hurting, as they clean up their flooded homes, rebuild and move on. They need our help.

Through our national affiliate, the American Federation of Teachers, the North Dakota Public Employees Association was able to give disaster relief grants to any of our members who sustained significant damage to their homes caused by the Souris River flooding. NDPEA leadership traveled to Minot in September, and individually distributed 18 grants to our members for $275 each.
